2018 SOLSC Day 2: Siblings

Something for my children to think about.

In the English language

There are so many words for cars: automobile, sedan, station wagon, buggy, clunker, limosine

There are so many words for restaurants too: cafe, diner, eatery, dive, hideaway, greasy spoon

But there are some words with no alternative.

One is brother.

The other is sister.

So when you look at your brother, or your sister, you can think to yourself, “There is no synonym for this person.”

This is your brother.

This is your sister.

  1. This is such a beautiful post. It’s certainly something you can tell them if they’re ever at each other’s throats. They only get one name and one sibling and that’s what makes it even more special.
